I am 50 years old, can I still adopt a child?

You're probably too old to adopt through the state, and unless there is a female living in your home, they'd be very suspicious about giving you a young girl. My husband and I adopted our son at infancy, but when we first applied they asked us if we'd take an older child (10+) or one with special needs. You might be able to check into that. We did a private adoption, and the social workers only came once.
